Bienvenidos!
Welcome to our Spanish class! This letter’s purpose is to introduce to you my philosophy of education and to inform you what to expect from me as your student’s teacher. Communication is critically important in the education of your child. I believe communication is crucial in developing a partnership between the parent, the student and the teacher.
I am very excited to be teaching Elementary Spanish at Springfield Plains Elementary this year! My name is Rachel Wiley and I am a graduate from Adrian College with a B.A. in Spanish and Elementary Education. This will be my thirteenth year of teaching, and I absolutely love teaching Spanish!
I have had the wonderful opportunity to study abroad in Spain at the University of Salamanca. This experience furthered my love of the Spanish culture, language, and people while taking classes, going on excursions, and living with a Spanish family. Additionally, I have also traveled to Costa Rica on an educational school trip, Mexico on a mission trip and to Puerto Rico with my family.
Teaching Spanish and working with children is my passion. Many members of my family and close friends are teachers who have inspired me to live my dream. They continue to encourage me to be the best teacher I can be.
This is the first of several notes you will receive from me informing you of educational matters and information, as well as our progress this coming year. As I stated, communication is vital for a successful learning experience to occur. I look forward to meeting with each of you in the coming weeks. Thank you for your support and partnership this year. Students will need a Spanish folder this year. I will send out more information regarding this. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Señora Wiley
