Happy Thanksgiving!

October and November have been busy months, but they were filled with fun activities and lots of learning! I hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving, and I am thankful for all of your help and support!

Young Fives
- We practiced singing in Spanish!
- We learned our ABCs and vowels in Spanish!
- We said our names in Spanish!
- We listened to the book, Chicka, Chicka, Boom, Boom!  in Spanish!
- We did a fun arts and crafts activity with Elmo and how to say I want to be your friend in Spanish!
- Now, we are learning numbers to 10 and colors in Spanish!

1st grade
- We practiced counting to 20, and saying the date in Spanish!
-  We expressed how we are feeling in Spanish!
-  We practiced singing in Spanish!
- We practiced the ABCs and vowels!
- Right now, we are learning about school supplies in Spanish!

School objects:  

la mochila = the backpack

el lápiz = the pencil

el crayón = the crayon

las tijeras = the scissors

la hoja de papel = the piece of paper

la carpeta = the folder

el libro = the book

el sacapuntas = the pencil sharpener


2nd grade
- We practiced our speaking skills and how to say the date and count up to 30 in Spanish!
- We practiced writing our names and how we are feeling in Spanish!
- We have been working hard with speaking, listening, reading, and writing in Spanish!
-  Right now we are learning how to describe someone in Spanish!

Describing others: 

alto/a = tall bonita/guapo = pretty/good looking

bajo/a = short (height) chido/a = cool

Inteligente = intelligent genial = brilliant

cómico/a = funny tonto/a = silly

simpático/a = nice atlético/a = athletic

serio/a = serious


3rd grade
- We practiced the date, weather, and ABCs in Spanish!
- We learned how to say his/ her name is and how someone else is feeling in Spanish!
- We practiced spelling in Spanish!
- Right now we are learning about places and objects at school. 

Identify and describe school locations: 

la oficina = the office

la clase/el salón = the class

el gimnasio = the gymnasium

la cafetería = the lunchroom

el patio de recreo = the playground

la biblioteca = the library/media center

el auditorio = the auditorium


4th grade
- We practiced saying the date, counting, the ABCs, and describing the weather in Spanish!
- We learned how to describe others physically by practicing sentences in Spanish!
- Right now we are learning how to express what hurts on our body in Spanish!

Express what hurts or is injured: 

Me duele(n)… = My …. hurt(s).

Te duele(n)… = Your … hurt(s).

Tengo catarro. = I have a cold.

Tiene catarro. = He/She has a cold.

Gripe = flu

Dolor de cabeza = headache

Dolor de estómago = stomach ache

Dolor de garganta = sore throat

Se me rompió el/la… = My… broke.



5th grade
- We practiced the date, counting, ABCs, weather, the pledge in Spanish!
- We learned how to describe someone's personality in Spanish!
- Right now we are learning about where Spanish is spoken in the world.

Identify countries where Spanish is spoken today: 

España = Spain, México, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Honduras, 

Belice = Belize, Panamá, Cuba, Puerto Rico, República Dominicana = Dominincan Republic, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Perú, Chile, Bolivia, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, 

Guinea Ecuatorial = Equatorial Guinea
